Investment Strategy
Cairngorm Capital invests in successful businesses that require a boost to achieve the next stage of growth. We generally seek companies with leading trade or consumer brands that attract highly loyal, recurring customers. The quality and success of the management team is a deciding factor in whether we invest, as we build and realize value through growth and operating improvements, not through financial engineering. Each company is operated autonomously and with an entrepreneurial philosophy.
Occasionally, we may take minority investment positions in very high-growth companies. We do not invest in distressed companies.
Investment Criteria
Cairngorm Capital currently has committed equity capital in excess of £400m available for investments. This capital has been committed by a number of prestigious US University Endowment Funds, by major European Funds of Funds and by the principals of Cairngorm Capital. Within our specialist sectors, we typically invest in UK-headquartered businesses earning operating profits (EBIT) of £2-20m. We then work collaboratively with management teams to grow earnings substantially over the long-term. Our firm has experience in growth financing, recapitalizations, corporate carve-outs and management-led buyouts. We have expertise in investing in closely-held and family-controlled businesses.
Industries of particular interest to us include ageing in-home; building materials; financial services/savings administration; health/wellness; and water management.
